Laramie County
Become a My Front Door family today!

My Front Door envisions a community where access to affordable homeownership and financial education drives systemic change,
creating lasting generational impact.

My Front Door’s mission is to support first time home buying families in Albany and Laramie County by providing financial education and assistance. In order to qualify for financial support, such as MFD down payment assistance plan or the $25,000.00 second mortgage forgiveness program, the household must have, at minimum, one child living in the home and an income level according to the above chart. Any family of any income level can participate in My Front Door’s financial literacy classes.
Program Timeline
Phase I:
Application Process
Follow this link to fill out an application. Materials needed will be household member’s personal information, employment record of applicant(s), and other family details. Please take your time with this application.

Phase II:
Savings & Financial Preparedness Education
(3-12 months)
During the savings phase, My Front Door provides savings support to a buyers' minimum 3.5% down payment, based on eligibility. Additionally, after completing the Financial Preparedness Education program, MFD families are eligible for $25,000 in the form of a second mortgage, which will be 100% forgiven after 5 years of home ownership (20% per year for 5 years).

Each family accepted into the MFD Program will be set up with an account via Wyoming Housing Networks Financial Preparedness Program. This program is designed with you and your family in mind and covers everything from the home buying process, mortgage and loans, to long term home maintenance.
Phase III:
Maintenance Phase
(5 years
post-home purchase)
The maintenance phase lasts five years; during this time, families learn to maintain or improve the value of their home, meet quarterly for family visits, attend at least two quarterly training activities per year and continue building wealth through additional investments. During years 2-5 of home ownership, an annual $1,000 maintenance grant from MFD is available for families to provide upgrades to their homes.

Once families complete 5 years post-homeownership with My Front Door, official participation in the program is complete. Some families choose to stay in their homes for many more years; some families plan to sell their homes and apply what they've learned to a new home purchase. However, all families remain My Front Door families forever—we cheer their success every step of the way, and encourage them to continue their involvement with My Front Door through numerous volunteer opportunities.
